Your First Visit

It all starts with your initial exam and consultation
At your initial consultation you will have the opportunity to meet Dr. DuClos and the team, learn about orthodontics, receive a complete initial records exam, and determine which treatment will fit your needs best.

During your initial consultation, we will:

  • Review your dental and medical history
  • Take digital photographic images and X-rays
  • Perform an extensive oral exam with Dr. DuClos
  • Create an individual treatment plan
  • Initial orthodontic study models may be taken if treatment is indicated
  • Discuss financial information, insurance, and payment plans.

You may wonder "why full records?"
At DuClos Orthodontics full records are obtained during your first visit in order to help Dr. DuClos in the diagnosis and planning of your individual treatment plan.

Common Questions
You may have questions about the basics of orthodontic care and this exam is the perfect time to ask Dr. DuClos!

The following questions will be addressed but we encourage you to ask as many as you need.

  • Is there a condition orthodontics can address
  • Is the condition functional or cosmetic
  • Is treatment needed now or should treatment be delayed to allow further growth, eruption of permanent teeth or other factors have occurred
  • What treatment procedures or appliances will be needed to correct the problem
  • Will there be teeth removed
  • How long will treatment take

Our team will be happy to answer any questions and provide you with the information you need to determine which treatment is right for you. Please contact us to schedule your complementary initial consultation!

What Happens After the First Visit?
After you have completed your initial consultation, if treatment has been recommended many people choose to schedule their Banding appointment before they leave the office.  If initiation of treatment has been recommended to not start right away for reasons discussed during the initial exam, you or your child will become a member of our Observation program.  During observation you or your child will have scheduled visits with Dr. DuClos in order for him to follow important growth and development.

Scheduling Appointments
During your orthodontic treatment you will visit Dr. DuClos about every four to six weeks.  These routine visits are a very important part of your orthodontic treatment plan. Our office team will work with you to make sure your appointments are as convenient as possible.

When scheduling appointments, please let us know what days and times work best for you.

We understand that “life happens”! If you’re running late or need to reschedule, please let the office team know as soon as possible and we will do everything we can to accommodate you.
